EXPRESS AIM TO RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

Express FC will be focused on returning to winning ways when they host Arua Hill SC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Friday, November 2nd, 2022. The Red Eagles have lost their previous two games 2-0 at home against Soltilo Bright Stars FC and 3-2 away to Wakiso Giants FC and they can not afford another defeat as they continue targeting top positions.

Despite being on the losing side against Bright Stars and Wakiso Giants, the seven-time champions had a good display in the second half of both games and that should be a generation of confidence ahead of Friday’s game. Express and Arua Hill are separated by a single point on the 15-team SUPL log coming into tomorrow’s game. The former is on 14 points compared to the latter’s 13 points after both teams have played nine games.

The Wankulukuku-based outfit will also be targeting to beat Arua Hill for the first time given that the two sides have met twice previously because the latter only gained promotion to the SUPL last season and won both games 2-0 and 1-0 in the first and second leg respectively.

Team news

Goalkeeper David Lukwago, defender Aboubakar Kasule and midfielder Faisal Ssekyanzi who have been long-term absentees due to injury have returned to training.

Reactions

James Odoch – head coach

“There is hunger amongst everyone to get back to winning ways and all focus will be on getting three points from tomorrow’s game. Arua Hill is a tricky team and we have never won against them but hopeful we shall register our first win against them this time around. We have had tough times recently losing twice but the team has been playing well and all we need to do is continue working together as a unit.”

Joseph Dhata – defender

“We lost our most recent game against Wakiso and everyone was disappointed including the fans and ourselves but we have trained well since then and I am optimistic that we shall win against Arua Hill. It is a team with players I am familiar with especially those who play for Sudan. They are a bit physical but I know we shall match them out to win the game.”
