Shafiq Ready to Impress following kobs call up.

The Uganda U23 Men’s National Team Head Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named a provisional squad of twenty nine players to start preparations for the 2023 TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations that will be hosted by Morocco. Among the midfielders is youngster Shafiq Ssebyala the Red Eagles’ shirt number 26.

This is his first national team call up at any level and the lad is happy and ready to impress in the squad.

“I thank the cranes head Coach (Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic) for adding me to the squad.Representing a nation is all that we (players) be working hard for and desire. I have been waiting for my turn and I guess this is it. My dream is to be at the squad and also represent Uganda at even a higher stage.”

Ssebyala who can also play as a Left back , winger and attacking midfielder as was the case on match day two in the 1 – 0 Win at home against URA FC when he came on for Derrick Ngoobi will provide a number of options to the technical team.

Guinea Vs Uganda1st leg Saturday 22nd October 2022 at 8pm (EAT)
Venue: Chamazi Stadium, Dar es Salaam-Tanzania

2nd leg 29th October 2022 Uganda vs Guinea at St. Mary’s Kitende Stadium.

Back at home the Red Eagles will be hosted at Muteesa II Stadium – Wankulukuku by SC Villa in the UPL Derby on Friday 14th October 2022.
