It was once again Allan Kayiwa that made the difference between Express FC and BUL FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Tuesday. Kayiwa scored his fourth goal of the season in six games as the Red Eagles edged BUL 1-0 to move to the fourth position on the 15-team log with 11 points.

The hosts started the brightest creating half-chances as they grew their momentum and confidence. Inside the opening 10 minutes, defender Joseph Dhata found himself in acres of space but his low cross couldn’t be tapped in by anyone.
A minute later, Kayiwa broke the deadlock with a beautiful strike slightly outside the 18-yard box. There were a couple of more half-chances from the seven-time SUPL champions toward the end of the first half but 1-0 it finished at the interval.

After the restart, Daniel Shabene had the best chance of the second half in the 58th minute but his effort from distance stung the upright to deny the home team their second goal. The Red Eagles continued pressing for another goal to seal the game but in vain, however, Kayiwa’s first-half goal was enough to earn them three points.

There were also moments where the visitors should have scored but the flying goalkeeper Denis Otim couldn’t be beaten by Karim Ndugwa and Frank Kalanda. Express will visit Busoga United FC at Kakindu Stadium on Wednesday, November 16th for their next SUPL fixture.
Head Coach James Odoch’s Reaction
James Odoch
“We have won a game against a tough opponent BUL who are also the table leaders and this gives us extra motivation and confidence going forward. We have a game in hand and if we continue playing this way we shall soon be occupying the top position, we have good players that can help us to achieve a lot this season in the likes of Allan Kayiwa who has scored again today. We shifted him from the win to a center forward and we can all see how positive the decision we made is paying off.”
