#MBAEXP | Mbarara v Express | 5 Things To Look Out For
The Red Eagles will be in search for their first win of the season and go into the international break on a high. Here are the five things we should look out for in this mouthwatering contest
Need for the first win of the season
The Red Eagles will go into the game needing to get their first victory against a side they should really aim at beating to be among the top sides before the international break. A win will move Express at least to 6th position on the table and fourth if they win by more than two goals.
Hamis Batega may make his debut
The giant no nonsense defender seldom referred to as Batabaire by his coaches may make his debut due to Ntambi and Mutanga not being available today. He was an unused substitute against URA but may partner Kakeeto defense against Mbarara. He joined the club from Eastern Uganda side Agape FC. He started in defense for us against Wakiso Giants in a friendly and we won 2-1.
Badru Nsubuga missing out
Youngster Badru Nsubuga will miss out due to a foot injury he sustained against URA and hasn’t trained since then. He was replaced by assistant captain Davis Mayanja who may again start in his place but Kefa has another option in Mubarak Nsubuga who is a former teammate to his namesake at Wembley FC where both joined us from. Kayiwa and Mbidde who started in the midfield against URA are fit to play.
Paul Mucureezi and Karim Ndugwa Effect
Mucureezi will be the star man for the western Uganda side if selected to play. He joined them from KCCA FC and he was a difficult opponent against us while there so he will not be a stranger to us but we believe they will have a plan for him.
Ndugwa a former Red Eagle with bags of experience having played in the top flight for many years and had a stint in a foreign league will also be a threat to our defense. He also scored against us in the preseason friendly while playing for Wakiso Giants in our 2-1 win against them. He later joined Mbarara City on loan. Our defense will need to be alert to keep those two at bay.
Need for a result ahead of the international hiatus
“Of course we would like to go into the break with 4 points, most of the teams above us have not more than four points so if we win tomorrow and get those points we shall be in a good position” – Michael Birungi. This will be a boost to the lads and will definitely pump them up to go at Kavumba and claim all three points
