MATCH REPORT: THE RED EAGLES PICK UP FIRST HOME LEAGUE WIN AGAINST THE PURPLE SHARKS.
League and CECAFA Kagame Cup champions Express FC picked up their first league win of the season against Wakiso Giants on Friday afternoon.
Forward Erick Kambale scored the only goal of the game from 12 yards in the first half.

The hosts got out of the blocks slowly but surely with their first opportunity to open the score coming in the 23rd minute, Deus Bukenya did all the hard work on the right and crossed in only for winger Martin Kizza’s header to kiss the cross bar and bounce back into play. Express FC raided the goal again in the 30th minute but Wakiso Giants’ defence cleared safely.

The Red Eagles finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when winger Martin Kizza was pulled back in the box by Fahad Kawooya and center referee Waiswa Muzamiru had no option but to award the spot kick, Erick Kambale stepped up and scored his second this campaign.

Waiswa Muzamiru called for the break with the hosts leading 1-0. After recess, Wakiso Giants tried to get back into the game with forwards Steven Bogere and Ssebufu trying to penetrate but Denis Otim was at his best on the day.

The win was Wasswa Bbosa’s first home league win of the season.
