MATCH REPORT: EXPRESS FC, UPDF FC SHARE SPOILS.
Express FC wrapped up their home league campaign with a goalless draw against UPDF FC on Saturday evening at the Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku.
Both sides contained each other in the first period but it was the Red Eagles that had a shout at goal with both notable opportunities being missed by midfielder Enock Ssebagala.
First was in the 35th minute when Martin Kizza laid through a pass on the left, Ssebagala made the run but skied his effort at close range, the silky midfielder could have made amends two minutes later but his over head kick went wide and that just about summed up the first period.
After recess, James Odoch rang the changes bringing on Erick Kambale and Abel Etrude for Joseph Akandwanaho and Ivan Mayanja respectively. The double sub made immediate impact with UPDF FC’s centre back Ssekitooleko Denis shoving Erick Kambale in the back in the forbidden area as Kambale tried to head home Martin Kizza’s cross leaving center referee Musisi Henry with no option but to award the penalty.
Up stepped Erick Kambale but the forward skied his effort in the 47th minute.
The Red Eagles kept pilling more pressure for a goal but we’re unsuccessful on several attempts as UPDF FC played it safe up to the end.
The draw takes the Red Eagles to 46 points but remain sixth on the log.
