MATCH REPORT: EXPRESS FC PICK A POINT AWAY TO GADDAFI FC.

Express FC managed a point away to Gaddafi FC following a 1-1 draw on Tuesday afternoon at the Gaddafi arena in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Winger Paul Musamali scored for the hosts while substitute Charles Musiige scored for the Red Eagles.

The game started off on a low note despite the heat and bumpy surface but the hosts were more comfortable and took the lead on 15 minutes through a freekick by Paul Musamali after midfielder Yaya Mahad had fouled just outside the forbidden area.

The Red Eagles never gave up, they kept the foot on the pedal and winger Joseph Akandwanaho could have leveled matters but failed to flick George Senkaaba’s cross from the left in the 28th minute.

Gaddafi FC kept at it and could have doubled their lead from the penalty spot after center referee Kasalirwe Lucky awarded a penalty after Murushid Juuko fouled Richard Basangwa in the box, up stepped Umaru Kyeyune but his effort kissed the post, bounced back into play and was cleared to safety and that signalled the end of the first period.

After the break the Red Eagles were more calm and passed the ball more but couldn’t penetrate the Gaddafi FC backline marshalled by veteran defender Isaac Isinde however James Odoch made another change in the 73rd minute bringing on Charles Musiige and Enock Ssebagala for Godfrey Lwesibawa and George Senkaaba respectively and the change proved effective.

Joseph Akandwanaho’s long cross from the left was headed home by Charles Musiige in the 81st minute to level matters, even though the Red Eagles pushed harder for a winner, they could only manage a point.
