MATCH REPORT: EXPRESS FC LOSE AWAY TO UPDF FC.

Express FC picked up a second straight loss in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League in a 1-0 loss away to UPDF FC on Saturday afternoon at the Bombo Military Play Grounds.

The only goal of the game was scored by veteran midfielder Musa Mudde from 12 yards.

The first half had a few points to write home about but Joel Mutakubwa was called into action on several occasions including the collusion in the 28th minute.

A charging Ivan Ahimbisibwe elbowed Joel Mutakubwa in the process of winning an aerial challenge, Mutakubwa needed urgent medical attention and center referee Shamila Nabada was left with no option but to send off the UPDF FC forward.

The army side however managed to head to the break with the score still goalless.

After the break UPDF FC kept the pressure on and were rewarded in the 56th minute when Nicholas Kasozi handled the ball in the process of clearing it, center referee Shamila Nabada pointed to the spot and Musa Mudde made no mistake.

Express FC tried chasing the game but failed to penetrate the UPDF FC backline that was manned by Bernard Muwanga.

The loss was Express FC’s second in a row in the league and 5th overall across all competitions.

“We played well but couldn’t score, for the last two games that has been our problem, we create chances but don’t convert so we’re going back to the drawing board to correct our mistakes and we shall bounce back better”.
