The Red Eagles started well but couldn’t make it count in the final third as Busoga United remained patient until their moment of truth happened, pacy forward Ssekulima Paul broke free on the left flank and volleyed home past a helpless Joel Mutakubwa to send the capacity crowd wild in the 22nd minute.

Express FC tried to step it up and almost made amends when right back Deus Bukenya’s header went agonisingly wide in the 43rd minute and which just about summed up the first period.

After recess, Busoga United simply sat back to protect their lead and stayed on the floor longer during medical breaks. Express FC forward George Senkaaba was unable to calmly level matters on a few occasions with the Busoga United backline denying him at every opportunity.

The 1-0 loss was Express FC’s third this season and keeps them in 5th position on 29 points after 18 matches played.

REACTIONS.

JAMES ODOCH – INTERIM MANAGER.

James Odoch passing on instructions to Kizza during the game.

“We lost today which is unfortunate however like I mentioned in my pre-match interview, we knew Busoga was a tough team, they scored early due to lack of concentration in our defence and kept their lead, we now shall go back and work on our mistakes so that we can do better in our next engagements”.

ISSA LUMU – CENTRE BACK/CAPTAIN.

“Basically, we came with an aim of winning the game but we conceded early which distracted us alot however we’re not crestfallen as we shall go back and correct the mistakes so that we bounce back stronger”.

The Red Eagles will now turn their attention to the Stanbic Uganda Cup where they’ll have the winner between arch rivals S.C Villa and Super Eagles.
