MATCH REPORT: EXPRESS FC COMPLETE LEAGUE DOUBLE OVER BUL FC.

Express FC picked up maximum points at home against BUL FC following their 2-1win on Saturday evening at the Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku.

A Kasonko George own goal and Martin Kizza’s clinical finish in the first half sealed victory for James Odoch’s team.

The game kicked off on a slow tempo but the hosts had one target in mind, to take the lead and midfielder Enock Ssebagala could have done so but his effort was well saved by Emmanuel Kalyowa on 24 minutes.

The hosts piled more pressure and we’re finally rewarded when the BUL FC backline failed to defend a corner kick with defender George Kasonko clearing in his own net to give the hosts a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute.

After conceding, BUL FC looked out of sorts which worked to the hosts’ advantage, Enock Ssebagala calmly controlled the ball in the box and cheekily passed it to an incoming Martin Kizza on the left flank, the latter made no mistake and slotted home to double the lead the send the home side’s sizable crowd into jubilations and also send the Red Eagles into he break with a 2-0 lead.

After recess Alex Isabirye’s charges tried to get back into the game using center forward Karim Ndugwa but Enock Walusimbi and Isaa Lumu’s backline was on hand to contain the forward.

Substitute Simon Oketch had a say though, coming on for score straight from a corner kick in the 73rd minute which was BUL FC’s consolation.

“I am happy we’ve won today, we had lost our previous two games. You know it’s difficult to bounce back from those defeats so this is good. We’ve managed to score twice, we created more but it’s good we won, we are now planning for our next home game against UPDF FC, we want to win it too because our target remains a top four finish”.

“We did manage to win today which was fantastic, the boys gave everything, we managed to score by half time and even though we conceded, the team played well. Our focus now is to prepare for our remaining two games, win them and finish in the top 4”.

The win takes the Red Eagles to 45 points but keeps them in sixth spot, next up for them is another home game against UPDF FC next Saturday.
