Joel Mutakubwa Keen On Replicating His CECAFA Kagame Cup Form.
Joel Mutakubwa is not your usual bubbly talkative person on any day even when his teammates crack him up in training but he’s one who always means business.
The 27-year-old who joined in July this year started off on a high playing a pivotal role as the Red Eagles claimed their first ever CECAFA Kagame Cup title in Dar-es-Saalam Tanzania. “Verma” like he is fondly known was named the best goalkeeper of the showpiece after managing two clean sheets in five outings and he says he is keen to get the groove back.

“Like any other goalkeeper, my target is to rack in as many clean sheets as possible, definitely the CECAFA performance motivated me more and I hope to build on that, we didn’t start the season well but we shall bounce back stronger, I along with my fellow goalkeepers (Otim and Kusiima) and our goalkeeper coach Daniel Kiwanuka are working tirelessly to ensure we help the team do better and we shall”. He stated.

Express FC are winless in their last three outings across all competitions and have conceded three goals in their last three games.
Mutakubwa has started all but the Uganda Cup loss to BUL FC since he joined. The Red Eagles will be hoping to return to winning ways when they make the short trip to Bombo this Saturday to face UPDF FC in their second league game.
