EXPRESS FC TRANSFER BUSINESS, WHO’S IN, WHO’S OUT?

As Uganda Premier League and CECAFA Kagame Cup champions, we beefed up our squad and below is the breakdown.

PLAYERS IN.

Joel Mutakubwa – Goalkeeper.

The 26-year-old joined the Red Eagles on 28th July replacing Mathias Muwanga who opted not to renew his contract, he has managed two clean sheets in five appearances all in the CECAFA Kagame Cup and also won the golden glove as the Red Eagles went on to win the regional title for the first time ever. Mutakubwa also won the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in 2019 with the Uganda Cranes.

Deus Bukenya – Defender/Midfielder.

The tough tackling defender joined the Red Eagles on as a free agent. “B.K” like he’s commonly known has featured in the Uganda Premier League before at Vipers and his versatility will be key. He hasn’t made any official appearance for the Red Eagles yet.

Nicolas Kasozi – Holding Midfielder.

Nicolas Kasozi joined Express FC on 7th September. The 28-year-old joined on loan from Kyetume FC and is expected to beef up the middle of the park. Nicolas Kasozi has featured for the Uganda Cranes and won the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

Joseph Akandanwaho – Winger.

Joseph Akandanwaho joined the Red Eagles on 28th July the 26 year old joined from Soltilo Bright Stars after a stellar season which saw him score eight league goals along with six assists. He has made only two substitute appearances all during the CECAFA Kagame Cup triumphant campaign.

Raymond Walugembe.

Forward Raymond Walugembe joined Express FC on deadline day, 21st September 2021 on a two-year deal. Walugembe who is expected to beef up the front line has featured for Kyetume FC but mostly in the Masaza Cup for Buddu.

PROMOTED.

Henry Mwebe – Goalkeeper.

Henry Mwebe has been promoted from the club’s junior team. Mwebe was part of the Uganda Cubs side that won the CECAFA U-17 Championship in 2020 and was also voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

Hassan Mubiru – Forward.

The left footed, lethal young forward has also been promoted. Mubiru was part of the Uganda Cubs side that won the CECAFA U-17 Championship in 2020. He is joined by David Lukwago another Goalkeeper and Dawson Mafumu a defender.

LOANS.

Desmond Kanene, Musoke Joshua and Joshua Sentambule join Proline for the upcoming season on season long loan deals.

PLAYERS OUT.
Mathias Muwanga and Sadat Mugenyi (Goalkeepers), Frank Kalanda – (Forward), Isaac Nsengiyunva – (Midfielder) and Frank Ssenyondo – (Winger).

Head Coach Wasswa Bbosa On The Transfer Business At The Club.

“We’ve made a few additions to the team because we obviously had departures, I believe the technical team made the right decesions in all departments and that the new faces know what’s at stake. We intend to defend the titles we won (The league and Kagame Cup) and I am convinced this squad will deliver the holy grail”.

The Red Eagles are back in training to prepare for the upcoming new season but most importantly the season opener in the FUFA Super Cup where they will face Vipers S.C.
