League and Kagame Cup champions Express FC have moved towards appreciating players’ performances by introducing the player of the month awards starting with October.

The monthly award will be given to the best player who will have been voted for by the fans through the club’s social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter) at the end of every month and will be recognized as well according to the club’s communications manager Peter Tabu.

“Yes the club has started the Player Of the month award which is aimed at appreciating and recognizing the players’ performances at the end of every month, this has been long overdue and we believe it will increase more engagement on our social media platforms between the players and the fans but most importantly also encourage players to work harder to be appreciated. The nomination process is guided by the statistics for all players in that particular month”.

The awards commence with the month of October and see midfielders Abel Etrude and Yaya Mahad Kakooza along with Center back Murushid Juuko earn nominations.

ABOUT THE NOMINEES.

ABEL ETRUDE.

The assistant captain has featured in two of the four league games played sofar this season. Etrude has managed back to back Pilsner man of the match awards in the two games he’s featured in running the show in the middle of the park.

MURUSHID JUUKO.

Despite the bad start to the league which saw the club lose two straight games, the Sheriff has had a commanding figure at the back. Juuko ensured the club registered their first clean sheet in the 1-0 win away to BUL FC and also scored his first of the season in the 2-2 draw at home to Vipers SC.

YAYA MAHAD KAKOOZA.

Yaya has featured in all the league games this season, deployed in the midfield creative role, the workhorse has managed an assist and a goal. Yaya scored his first for the club and club’s first this season in the 1-0 win away to BUL FC and also assisted in Murushid Juuko’s goal against Vipers SC, brushing the ball towards Juuko who then headed home.

Voting is only on the club’s official Facebook and Twitter pages and runs for 5 days, the winner will be announced on Monday 8th November 2021.
