Express FC Beef Up Squad Ahead Of CAF Champions League Campaign.

Uganda Premier League and CECAFA Kagame Cup champions Express FC have beefed up their squad ahead of their first continental appearance in 13 years.

Versatile defender Deus Bukenya and hard tackling holding midfielder Nicolas Kasozi are the two new additions in Wasswa Bbosa’s squad at Wankulukuku.

Nicolas Kasozi joins on a season-long loan from Kyetume FC while versatile defender Deus Bukenya joins on a one-year deal as a free agent.

For Kasozi, the opportunity to join Express FC was one he immediately jumped at and he adds he can’t wait to get started.

“I am happy to be a Red Eagle even if not on a permanent basis but any player out there would want to be at such a club, I know what is expected of me on and off the pitch and I will not disappoint, the boys have welcomed me very well and I have already settled in”.

Deus Bukenya has also reterliated his desire to make it count with the Red Eagles.

“I am glad to join Express FC, as everyone knows the club has done a fantastic job winning the league and Kagame Cup and I am here to simply help the team continue it’s dominance, I thank the technical team for trust and I’ll certainly repay the faith”.

26-year-old Deus Bukenya has previously played for Vipers SC and Prisons FC in Botswana.

Head coach Wasswa Bbosa has stated that the reinforcements were all well thought through and will definitely make the squad stronger.

“The new faces are definitely a huge addition to our squad because we all know we have to defend the league but also we have more games to play this season with the continent being priority so we need to have more options and I am sure the new players will certainly do a fantastic job”.

The Red Eagles are preparing to face Sudanese outfit Al Merrikh in the CAF Champions League Preliminary round first leg tie on Friday 10th September at the St. Mary’s stadium Kitende.

The Red Eagles will then travel to Khartoum for the return leg set to take place on 18th September 2021.
