ENOCK WALUSIMBI READY TO STEP IN TO FILL MURUSHID JUUKO’S VOID WITH UGANDA CRANES.
Club captain and Uganda Cranes defender Enock Walusimbi never minces his words, no matter the situation at hand.
The 22-year-old is one of four Express FC players summoned to the Uganda Cranes local based squad ahead of the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifier double header against Rwanda set to take place early next month but with his clubmate, experienced defender Murushid Juuko absent due to suspension, Walusimbi believes he’s up to the task and knows what is at stake in the upcoming qualifier.

“We all know what the sheriff (Murushid Juuko) brings to the table and he will be missed but we the available players depending on who coach Micho selects should be able to do well. Personally I am ready to step up because we need to do our best to win the games”. He stated before adding that he has learnt a lot from Juuko both at club and national team level.
“I have learnt alot from Juuko, we played at centre back together against Mali and Kenya so if given the opportunity, I will surely do my best”.

Enock Walusimbi currently captains the Uganda U-23 team but made his senior cranes debut on 29th August against Ethiopia as the Cranes lost 2-1 in a friendly in Bahir.
“Lucio” like he is fondly called then went on to earn two more caps, against Kenya away and Mali at home both in the current FIFA 2022 World Cup qualification campaign. Walusimbi is also the first captain in the club’s history to lift the CECAFA Kagame Cup and Uganda Premier League in the same season.

The Uganda Cranes are expected to travel to Kigali on 5th October with the first leg set for 7th October while the return leg will take place on 10th October at the St. Mary’s stadium Kitende.
