The Red Eagles went past old nemesis Police 4-1 in penalties to qualify for the Uganda Cup quarter finals. The 90 minutes ended 0-0.

We talked to Coach George Ssimwogerere and below are his thoughts.

On the game…

It was a good game the boys played according to the system I told them to play, I told them to play our game it’s the opponents who will change they played very well the first half and we didn’t get any problem, the visitors had only one shot on goal and that’s the mistake we made in the second half. They played well as they were supposed to and helped each other just a few things we have to rectify and this is a new system so it’s hard for them but they will learn it.

On the calmness of Muwanga in our goal…

He did well we just have to give him confidence. He’s calm he loves what he does we talk to him and I believe he will only get better.

On whether it’s the reason as to why they brought him back in goal after falling down the pecking order…

First of all you look at the qualities of a player before you decide whether him will be the one starting or no if he has the better qualities then don’t deny him a chance. I can’t hate him just because of what others tell me I have to see him with my eyes I have never seen him we have all of them so the one with the best performance is the one who will play, I don’t know them personally I’m a new staff here and also them have to be new and fight for the position.

On Kakeeto’s injury…

I think it’s not a new injury it must be an old injury according to the way he has been playing it seems he has been having it just aggravated. We shall get a replacement so it’s not a big problem.

On whether after qualifying to the quarters we have the reason to believe…

In football we judge the game on the field of play not what happened yesterday so we have to plan for this level then if we qualify we plan for another level. We can’t plan for the final to win the trophy, we plan for every stage we reach. We can’t jump a river before we reach it. We reach the river and see what next.
