#VIPEXP | Vipers v Express | Five Things To Look Out For

We are in action against the Champions Vipers at their home the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Friday 1st March.

Here are the five things to look out for.

Tony Odur

The striker joined Express from Vipers at the start of the season and has a lot of experience in this fixture. He is our top scorer already this season with five goals and he has managed to score 5 goals for Express against the Kitende based side and may be a good source of goals for us if selected tomorrow.

Improving Express defense

Coach George Ssimwogerere has managed 5 games for Express and it is safe to say our defense has improved immensely. We have only conceded two goals in five and faced a few shots from the opponents. Jumah Balinya the league top scorer against us in the Uganda cup didn’t manage a single shot on target. Against a side like Vipers with a lot of quality up front it will be an interesting battle how to stop them.

Lawrence Kigonya the revelation in defensive midfield

The midfielder got a few chances under the former coaches but after the appointment coach Sim he has given him chances ahead of Pius Mbidde who was used most of the time. The strong midfielder has taken it with both hands and he is putting in performance to reckon with. Against Ndejje University he stopped most of their attacks and won many duels. If selected the likes of Taddeo Lwanga in the Vipers midfield will have a long evening.

Isaac Mutanga.

The strong center back was the man of the match against Ndejje. At the beginning of coach Ssimu’s stint with Revita and Kakeeto fit he used to play in defensive midfield. Kakeeto passed his late fitness test and will be available for the game if selected. Mutanga may return in midfield or play in defense but wherever he plays his presence will be needed and his leadership skills will also be needed.

Another date on the artificial turf

We have already played two games on the infamous turf and won one against Police 3-1 and lost one a late goal scored by Muhindo Kambale in Njeru to give BUL three points.
According to the coach our players are used to the turf and he believes they will perform as expected. We wait to see.
