Police 1-3 Express | Five Things We Noticed

The Red Eagles won their first game of the season. Here are some of the key points we noticed.

A win for all of us

It was a very special victory for everyone involved with the club. The fans, the administrators, the coaches and the players of course. The celebration at the end by the players with the fans said it all, pressure was mounting to all over us it was indeed a big sigh of relief after the final whistle.

Players celebrate with fans after the final whistle

Senior players lifted the team.

Odur, Birungi, Kayiwa led from the front while captain Julius Ntambi and Mathias Muwanga from defense and goal respectively. It was a nice thing to see them perform to the expectation of the on lookers and a very good point to build upon on going forward

Birungi joined by other teammates to celebrate his goal in front of jubilating fans.

Kiggundu the utility player

Arthur Kiggundu made his competitive debut for us in style. The youngster predominantly a left back was played in centre back and Hamis Batega who started against Mbarara was relegated to the bench. He did not disappoint with nice tackles and intelligent play despite being unlucky when the ball deflected off him to give Police a lifeline at the start of the second half. With Mutanga still lacking paperwork we should not be surprised seeing him more in the defense partnering Shafiq Kakeeto

Kiggundu had an impressive show

Mr. Safe hands; Mathias Muwanga

The experienced goalkeeper had his first outing for the Red Eagles and he put in a man of the match performance saving the Red Eagles on over three occasions two in the second half and one in the first half. He was also commanding his defense very well and nearly got his cleansheet but he was unlucky and beaten by a shot which deflected off his defender Arthur Kiggundu. With such a performance we wont be surprised if he keeps his place against his former side BUL FC next week on Tuesday  at Wankulukuku.

Ability to withstand pressure

Immediately after our opener Police became the better side but the Red Eagles defended candidly and waited for any chance on the counter. Minutes to the halftime break it paid off Odur setting up Kayiwa to score our second. The second half started the same way but still the boys resisted though got unlucky with a deflection but maintained until they took all three points home

Nana and his mates worked the entire 90 minutes
