#NYAEXP | Nyamityobora v Express | The Lowdown

Nyamityobora v Express | UPL | Wednesday 13th February | Kakyeeka Stadium, Mbarara | Kick off 4:30pm

The Red Eagles will go to Mbarara inspired by their spirited performance against BUL FC on Sunday at Njeru.

When asked about how soon this away fixture has come after another away fixture in a space of two days coach George Ssimwogerere was not fazed. He said, “We have nothing to do, that’s how the league managers drafted the fixtures we just have to adjust with the players we have and go for the games.”

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of this tricky much needed win by the Red Eagles.

Team News

The Red Eagles will continue to be without Tony Odur (injured), Eric Kambale (injured), Michael Birungi (Suspended), Ivan Ocholit (family issues) he is back with the squad but he won’t be fit for this one after spending a week away and Robben Kabuye (injured)
That leaves us with only one striker Brian Umony.

Badru Nsubuga expected to be back in the squad after recovering from malaria. He missed out on the trip to Njeru.

How Nyami are getting on

The Abanyankare are in 14th position with 12 points. 18 games played 3 won 3 drawn and a whooping 12 lost the worst in the league alongside fellow newcomers Ndejje University FC.
They trail the Red Eagles by 9 points.
They were defeated 3-0 in their last game by their nemesis Mbarara City coached by former Red Eagle Livingston Mbabazi.

Who is their head coach?

The western Uganda side are managed by coach Asaph Mwebaze a man who hails coach Mike Mutebi as his master which shows you that he likes to play entertaining attacking football. He likes grooming kids and he is not afraid of throwing them into the action to Express themselves. In our first game against them he played at least five members of his under 19 boys after suspending most of his senior side players.
He is assisted by former Express assistant coach Joseph Kiwanuka a like minded coach.

Players to watch.

Ibrahim Dada! The striker was not known to many but came with a very surprising performance against Police FC at Lugogo. He scored a hat trick and set up another goal to scoop the man of the match award as they went on to win 4-1 away from home.
Their captain Alex Komakech is another one to look out for. His runs from the left full back to attack, crosses, set pieces and determination are adorable and can hurt.

Who are the officials

FIFA referee Mashood Ssali will be the main man assisted by Turyomuriwe Samuel and Atusinguza Robson.
Noor Hassan will be the fourth official while Ali Waiswa will be the referees’ assessor.

Past encounter

The Red Eagles edged the past encounter 2-1 at Wankulukuku in December. Youngster Badru Nsubuga scored is first Express and UPL goal while Michael Birungi got the winner late in the game.
