Express FC center back Murushid Juuko mans arguably the best defence backline in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League which has leaked in only 7 goals, the least by any side in the recently concluded first round.

The 26 year old who is part of the Uganda Cranes squad preparing for the upcoming  AFCON 2021 qualifiers double header against Burkina Faso at home and Malawai away is ready to reciprocate his club form in national colours.

“Its true as Express FC we’ve done great (first round), I think we worked as a unit, we still have more work to do though because our target remains winning silverware at the end of the season which we hope to achieve, To be able to start all 15 games and concede only 7 goals is not a bad start but we can do better, we’ve also kept six clean sheets which for me is a good job done thus far”

On the task at hand which is the AFCON 2021 qualifiers double header, Juuko insists it’s not a done deal as yet.

“The task at hand is not an easy one, but individually I am focused and as a team we have to stay composed but also most importantly listen and follow the head coach’s instructions to the latter, Burkina Faso is a good team but we’re home and we should be able to make it count”.

The “Sheriff” is expected to play a pivotal role in the upcoming two games with a win at home against Burkina Faso sealing Uganda’s progress to a third straight AFCON appearance, it will also be Juuko’s third showpiece in national team colours. The Cranes are scheduled to have their last training session on Tuesday 23rd March at the St. Mary’s stadium Kitende.

Express FC who sit third on the log with 32 points from 15 games, managed 22 goals and also went 12 games unbeaten in the first round. Wasswa Bossa’s charges open their second round campaign at home to table leaders U.R.A FC on 3rd April who are six points clear of the Red Eagles.
