Mistakes and fatigue cost us – Coach Sim

We drew our first home UPL game under coach Sim 1-1 with Maroons FC.

After the game he talked to the media and below is what he said.

On the game…

Football is a game of defense and attacking we played a game against Police it was a very difficult game and the boys put in whatever they had as Maroons was resting which is not a problem to me, the boys put in their best Maroons got only one chance and it was a mistake from the goalkeeper they wouldn’t have scored any goal.

On the penalty…

I heard their coaches saying it was not a penalty, when is a penalty given?
When a player is fouled in the box and Umony was fouled so it was a penalty.
I congratulate the boys for the fight to pick a point at least from down.

On starting with a defensive strategy…

It was the best strategy. Maroons play from the back and I have Mubaraka who can run for 45 minutes without stoping to tire them so they were down and I knew it was going to be 0-0 so I bring on the two strikers. The problem is that the keeper mistimed the ball but the strategy was good.

On starting with six defenders…

Six defenders like who?

Like Disan Galiwango..

According to you Disan is a defender according to me, no, he is an attacker. I was playing a 4:3:3 and used three attacker, Disan, Birungi and Nsubuga but for you you can say he is a defender because you know him as a defender to me he is an attacker.

On whether he will use the same tactics against Ndejje….

First of all Ndejje is an away game so you can’t compare the two so we shall use another strategy.

On the fatigue in the team…

We played Police they won and in less than 3 days we play against Maroons so the boys have to go down and the squad is small according to me. There’s no way we can change players and they have to play Uganda cup and the league.

On Zaga’s performance…

That’s not news he is a good player and has to distribute the balls and he is very hardworking so he moves forward but he is a distributor and has to give the two strikers. I’m happy with him.
