Mayanja, Ssekyanzi Enjoying The Moment While It Lasts.
At the age 20, both Ivan Mayanja a midfielder and Faisal Ssekyanzi a winger at Express FC never imagined how their first season in the top flight would end, not the way it ended at the very least.
The youngsters dubbed the “twins” at the club are part of the playing squad that guided the Red Eagles to a 7th league title last season albeit with four games left. For Ivan Mayanja, the moment is a lasting memory at such an early age.

“It’s so surreal, I joined the club not more than a year ago and for me to have achieved this in my first season is unbelievable. First I thank the technical team then my fellow players, I’ve grown on and off the pitch because I’ve been learning from the senior players, we have a great group of players and we can only get better next season and as an individual my aim is to play better and more often when i am called upon” He stated.

Faisal Ssekyanzi who managed six appearances all off the bench is equally over joyed by the achievement.
“Any player would feel fantastic, it’s a huge milestone to win a league title at your first time of asking in the top flight, it motivates me more and i am certainly going to push myself and perform better. We have a good group of players and i am sure we shall achieve more next season”.

The “twins” are expected to play an integral part of Wasswa Bbosa’s plans next season having made cameo appearances last season. The Red Eagles have a bumper schedule coming up with the new Uganda Premier League season, CECAFA Kagame cup, Uganda Cup and the CAF Champions League all in line.
