Express FC picked up a point at home against Kyetume FC in their last home game of the first round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the Betway Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku on Saturday evening.

The Red Eagles came all out at the start especially on the flanks led by Godfrey Lwesibawa who won a freekick in the 25th minute just outside the 18 yard area but skied his effort.

The fast paced winger got another opportunity two minutes later when he broke free, face on with the goal but his long range shot was punched over the bar by Kyetume FC’s Joel Mutakubwa and that was just it for the first half.

After the break, Kyetume FC forward Robert Ssentongo seemed to disturb the Express FC backline but Murushid Juuko was on hand to calm the situation especially aerial battles.

Erick Kambale could have given the the Red Eagles the lead but fluffed the chances on both occasions, the first an over head kick which went off the mark of goal and another which required Joel Mutakubwa to stretch and tap the ball into a corner.

Club skipper Enock Walusimbi was glad about picking the point but added that the team could have converted their chances.

REACTIONS.

“I am happy we picked up a point at home, Kyetume FC seemed to be interested in the point but as a team, going forward, we shall have to convert our chances and I am sure we shall”.

The draw leaves Express FC third on the log on 29 points and complete the first round with a short trip to Lugogo to face Police FC on Tuesday 16th March 2021.
