MATCH REPORT: Express FC, Kyetume FC Share Spoils In First Leg Cup Tie.

Express FC picked up two important away goals as they shared spoils with Kyetume FC in the 2 – 2 draw in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 first leg game played at the Fufa technical centre in Njeru.

Midfielder John Byamukama and substitute Erick Kambale scored for the visitors while Walugembe Raymond and Kaye Ezra scored for Kyetume FC.

The Red Eagles started from the back foot with Kyetume FC forward Kaye Ezra heading home on six minutes after connecting well with Julius Ntambi’s cross on the right but the visitors responded well  seven minutes later with midfeilder John Byamukama catching Kyetume FC’s goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa offguard with a long range strike.

Express FC tried to head into the break with the lead but on several occasions failed to link up well in the final third.

After recess, Kyetume FC started pressing looking for another goal and they took the lead again in the 61st minute through forward Walugembe Raymond who rose highest to head past Denis Otim.

At 2-1 down, head coach Wasswa Bossa brought on Erick Kambale and Frank Senyondo for Frank Kalanda and Godfrey Lwesibawa respectively to speed up the attack and it wasn’t long before Kambale made an impact.

The slow paced forward rose highest in the 76th minute to head home skipper Enock Walusimbi’s cross and make it 2-2.

The 2-2 draw means Express FC will advance with any win or a 1-1 draw. The return leg is scheduled for 10th April 2021 at the Betway Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku.

“Well it was a tough game but we managed to pick two important away goals, I think the advantage is ours now and we’re going back to correct the mistakes we did today, overall I think we played well but we can do better in the return leg”.

“First of all I am happy to have scored my first goal for the club this season, it was a really difficult game but we managed to get to important away goals, we hope to build from this in the return leg”.
