MATCH REPORT: ERICK KAMBALE’S HAT-TRICK BURIES KYETUME FC.
Express FC picked up their 7th away win of the season and 14th overall after their 3-2 win away win over Kyetume FC on Wednesday evening at Nakisunga Ssaza grounds.
Forward Erick Kambale scored a hat-trick to ensure the maximum points.

The hosts started off brilliantly when they caught the visitors on a counter attack with Sharif Saaka who found acres of space on the right and found an unmarked forward Ezra Kizito Kaye on the left who slotted home after just 4 minutes.

The early goal forced Express FC to slowly rebuild from the back and also play cautiously, wingers Godfrey Lwesibawa and Martin Kizza did the donkey work trying to penetrate the visitors’ defence but it was Erick Kambale’s quick thinking in the 17th minute on the right that restored parity. The lanky forward squeezed his effort on the near post past Kyetume FC goalkeeper Derrick Were who thought Kambale was crossing the ball.

Both sides then tried to create several chances but went into the break level however after recess, Express FC continued to press ahead trying to create opportunities.

Kyetume FC midfielder Nicolas Kasozi on a few occasions made his way into the box but Murushid Juuko and Lumu Issa calmly contained the situation.

Erick Kambale wasn’t done though, Charles Musiige started the play, making a run on the left flank before he crossed to Godfrey Lwesibawa who then calmly set up the ball for a waiting Erick Kambale, the former made no mistake with his deflected strike doubling the lead on the hour mark.

Seven minutes later, Kambale was it again, sealing his hat-trick by slotting home substitute Mustafa Kiragga’s shot which had kissed the post and bounced back into play.

Just when it seemed like the end, Issa Lumu handled the ball in the forbidden area leaving center referee William Oloya with no option but to point to the spot, substitute Ezra Bidda stepped up and converted.

The win means the Red Eagles remain third but move to 49 points one point behind second placed Vipers SC and two behind table leaders URA FC.
