Express FC kickstart their Stanbic Uganda Cup title charge with an away fixture against fellow league side Kyetume FC on Tuesday 6th April at the FUFA Technical center in Njeru.

The Red Eagles who opened their second round league campaign with a 3 – 1 home win over table leaders URA FC also their 5th home league win of the current campaign will look to draw first blood in the first leg of the cup fixture. Both sides met in the first round but the fixture ended goalless.

TEAM NEWS.
Centre back Murushid Juuko is available for selection as his suspension only affects league games.

Midfielder Abel Etrude remains in the sick bay along with Arthur Kiggundu and George Senkaaba.

The rest of the squad is fit and available for selection.

MATCH FACTS.
Express FC have won a record equalling 10 domestic cup titles, level with KCCA FC.

Both sides will be meeting for the first time in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The Red Eagles last won the cup in 2007 while the hosts have never won it nor reached the final in their history.

“We’ve prepared well coming into this next game, the league win over URA FC gave us a boost but now next up is a knock out competition (Uganda Cup). We face Kyetume whom we faced in the first round but shared a point (0-0), we created chances which we didn’t convert so concentration has been on the final third, the players know we have to compete in both competitions (cup and league) to help the club win silverware”.

“First of all we’re happy we picked up our first win at home in our last league game but now our focus is on tomorrow’s game against Kyetume FC, we faced them in the first round so we know how to handle them. The players are ready to step up, from the start our main target was to win the Stanbic Uganda Cup and we hope to achieve it”.

The Uganda Cup will be played on a home and away basis save for the final, Express FC host Kyetume FC in the return leg on 10th April 2021.
