MATCH PREVIEW: Express FC Visit Army Side UPDF FC.

Express FC will make the short trip to Bombo Military stadium on Tuesday evening 9th February to face UPDF FC in their second last away league game of the first round.

The Red Eagles who have gone 12 games unbeaten are searching for their fourth away win of the campaign which in turn will stretch their lead to four points at the summit of the table.

Frank Kalanda has been on target twice in the last two games both strikes from the spot earning the Red Eagles six points.

Head Coach Wasswa Bossa will need to ring some changes to his squad due to a number of injuries picked up in the previous game.

Left back Arthur Kiggundu has been ruled out for up to six weeks after picking up a partial tear ligament on his left leg during the 1-0 win over Busoga United, Sadiq Ssekyembe is expected to be fill the void.

Pacey midfielder Charles Musiige is also a doubt after picking up a strain on the buttocks muscle in the same game.

The squad has no suspensions.

The two sides have met up 20 times in the league with the Red Eagles picking up 10 wins compared to UPDF’s 7 with as many draws.

Log leaders Express FC are the only unbeaten side in the StarTimes Uganda Premier league after 12 match days.

Wasswa Bossa’s side remains the only team to be unbeaten in league with just three first round games to play. UPDF is managed by Express legend and former coach Kefa Kisala assisted by former Express Assistant Coach Pius Ngabo.

7th placed UPDF FC have managed two league wins in their past seven outings.

Express FC won the last contest between the two sides in April 2018, the 2-0 home win was sealed with goals from Michael Birungi and Jalil Zimula.

“First of all we have a few injuries like our key player Arthur Kiggundu which is a set back but the focus is on, tomorrow’s game won’t be easy because the opponents (UPDF) lost 6 – 1 (Vs KCCA FC) so they’ll want to come all out but we’ve prepared well especially our finishing, we know we have to score more which we’ve worked on.”
