Frank Kalanda the club’s leading marksman last season pounced on a poor clearence just after three minutes in the 18 yard area to slot home sending the home bench into wild celebrations.

The Red Eagles kept the pressure on and just four minutes later, Erick Kambale connected well with Charles Musiige’s cross on the left neatly placing the ball right in the middle of goal.

With a comfortable 2 -0 lead, it seemed like the Red Eagles had everything in control but Bright Stars midfielder Kacancu Gaddafi Augustine had other ideas taking advantage of poor defending to make it 2 -1 on 11 minutes.

Frank Kalanda could have made it 3-1 but his header in the 32nd minute off a Godfrey Lwesibawa cross on the right flank hit the cross bar.

After recess, both sides seemingly cancelled each other out with Wasswa Bbosa charges coming out on top.

Man of the Match Issa Lumu credited the win to team work.

“First of all we came with a strategy of pressing the opponent, it’s good we scored early and we won the game.

On replacing skipper Enock Walusimbi, Lumu was quick to state he will always impress when given the opportunity.

“The team has many good players and I only did my part, I’ll keep impressing whenever I am given the opportunity” He added.

Head coach Wasswa Bbosa was happy about that fact that the team kept the focus.

“I am happy about out first home win, the boys put in a great shift apart from the injuries, I think this is a well earned win”  He concluded.
