Kambale and Mutanga will add a lot to us – Coach Sim

The Red Eagles are back in action on Monday 11th March against BUL FC in the quarter finals of the Uganda cup.

Coach George Ssimwogerere managed his first Express game since being appointed in February against BUL and lost 1-0 in Njeru. He will be facing the same opponent but this time at home and in a different competition.

We talked to him in a pre match interview and below is what he said.

Express v BUL | Uganda Cup Quarter Final | Betway’s Mutesa II Stadium | Kick off 3pm

On how we are ready for the game…

We are very ready the boys have been together and those who were injured are back so we shall play a good game better than our last game because we missed very many players who we have this time round.

On team news…

Isaac Mutanga is back.
Kambale also training well but lacks match fitness so we shall see whether he can make the bench, he is improving very time.

On the coming back of Kambale and Mutanga and what it adds to the team…

It’s good though Kambale is not yet on the level he is supposed to be playing at but he is doing well, Isaac adds leadership to us and he is welcome, Umony also improving fitness wise as well as Tony Odur. They are experienced players and make us stronger.

On the progress of Disan Galiwango as a left winger…

Disan is doing well, it’s only other people thinking that he is a defender but he is the only left winger I have in my team no one else and he will do the job.

On lessons we learned from our loss against BUL…

They are two different competitions the other one was a league game and this is Uganda cup though the teams are the same. In the league we play only 90 minutes but this one we expect extra time and penalties if possible. So both games are handled differently. We tried to defend in the first game because they were home and on an artificial turf but here we shall be at home on natural grass and we shall attack them.

On facing Onen and his physical side..

They are not so tall or so big but it depends on how you handle them most Ugandan players are of an average size we shall handle them well. They have some tall players and we also have them. We shall position ourselves well they are in a good league position and have been together for quite long yet we are trying to build a new thing and the boys are adapting well.

On the difficulty in dominating teams and creating chances to score…

In everything things don’t come at once they have to first get used to the system and understand what they play then other things will just happen automatically. If you don’t understand what you play you can’t improve but now they are learning what we want to play they understand the positions so soon all will be well.

The game will kick off at 3pm not the usual 4pm due to the prospect of extra time and penalties.
