They worked their socks off and now they can finally afford a smile after making the U17 AFCON squad.

The Express FC Junior Team will be well  represented at the upcoming U17 AFCON tournament in Morocco, four players have made the final squad ahead of the showpiece led by two shot stoppers in Henry Mwebe and Oyirwoth Humphrey also on the traveling contigent is defender Peter Gava and forward Hassan Mubiru.

Head coach Hamza Lutalo revealed the 25 man sqaud through the FUFA website and Henry Mwebe says now is the time to prove that they deserve to be on the sqaud.

“Individually I am glad to have made the final sqaud, to be honest whatever I achieved in the previous tournament (MVP U17 CECAFA) is now in the past, I’ve said it before and I can repeat it, we have a very good team and I believe we can surely make it”.

“I also want to thank the head coach (Hamza Lutalo) for all the support and trust in us, we shall not let the technical team and the nation down”.

Henry Mwebe put up a good performance in goal as the cubs went on to win the CECAFA U17 Tourney, he was also walked away with the tournament’s golden glove award.

Uganda is pooled in group A alongside Morocco, Ivory Coast and Zambia, with the  showpiece slated to take place from 13th to 31st March 2021.
