George Senkaaba, Arthur Kiggundu Speak Out On Injury Recovery Process.

Picking up injuries midway the season is one of any player’s nightmare like is the case for Express FC forward George Senkaaba and left back Arthur Kiggundu.

The duo have been out of action for close to five weeks now, George Senkaaba picked up a multiple partial tear in his achilles during the 1-0 away win over Kitara FC his former club on 2nd March 2021, three days later left back Arthur Kiggundu also got injured in the 1-0 home win over Busoga United. Both injuries were given a period of about six weeks and sofar so good with the recovery process atleast according to both players.

“It’s been tough watching from the sidelines, to get injured is part of football but the time when it happens is really vital, as a forward I felt I’d started doing well therefore it was a setback but the club has done a tremendous job to help us get back to our feet, the strength and conditioning coach (Helen Buteme) along with the medical team (Makubya Alyosius and Wante Godfrey) have been supportive too so in no time I’ll be back in the squad”.

For Arthur Kiggundu, the feeling hasn’t been any different.

“Like George said, injuries are always a set back but we’ve focused on getting better to return to full fitness as soon as possible. The boys have soildered on well, they’ve fought hard to put the team to the level it is now and we’re grateful, the focus now is to return to the top of the table and win silverware”.

Both players have resumed light training under the supervision of coach Helen Buteme and are not far away from regaining full fitness.

Team doctor Makubya Alyosius says it’s been a long road to recovery but it’s positive.

“It’s been a bit tough on both of them, no player wants to sit out and watch others play, but i should say they’re mentally strong and they’ve done well, we hope that they recover in a few weeks time and resume playing”. He said.

George Senkaaba has six goals to his name while Arthur Kiggundu had managed one goal. The Red Eagles sit third on 40 points, four adrift of table leaders URA FC and three adrift of second placed Vipers SC, next up for the Red Eagles is a home fixture against Onduparaka FC, both sides shared the spoils in the first leg which ended 1-1.
