Frank Kalanda Relishing “Big Brother” Role At Express FC.
Fondly loved by the Red Eagles’ faithful, Frank Kalanda is no ordinary name in Ugandan Football having turned out for AS Kigali and the Uganda Cranes.
The powerful forward who is in his second spell with the Red Eagles is one of the senior players at the club that have helped in a rapid turn around of the club from the past seasons in performance and “Machete” says the journey has been worthwhile adding that the future is bright.

“The club has had a rollercoaster in the past that’s a fact but not anymore, the Chairman has done a tremendous job just like the players have, as a senior player offering guidance to the young ones and leading by example I’ve played more of a big brother role on the team, the season is still on and even though we seem to have done well, we as players feel it’s not done yet and we shall fight until the end”.

The 29-year-old who was the club’s league top scorer last season on 11 goals was also quick to state that he will still rise to the occasion because he has the mental strength to do so unlike the unfamiliar opinions coming from individuals who think the forward should have banged in the goals more often like last season.

“I hear people say things about me this season but they having nothing on me, to be honest I believe in myself 100% and I take it a game at a time, I like it when everyone contributes to the team winning because for me that describes the team cohesion, I’ll keep working harder and helping the team when it matters most”.

Frank Kalanda has managed five goals across all competitions, four in the league and one in the cup, with four league game left, Wasswa Bbosa will hope “Machete” bangs in the goals to help the club win their first silverware in 9 years, The Red Eagles sit top of the chasing pack in the league and also are in quarter finals of the Uganda Cup.
