The Red Eagles drew 1-1 with SC Villa at Wankulukuku in a tie which came to light in the second half.

The visitors started the better side and threatened Express goalkeeper Tony Kyamera twice but he was on course and saved both efforts.

The visitors got two quick fire corners which didn’t trouble the hosts that much.

The Red Eagles started getting better in the game and Eric Kambale seemed to have been fouled in the area but the referee waved play on.

Umony got another chance in the 15th minute after creating space for him self but his low shot went a whisker wide with Villa goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa already beaten.

Express got another chance through a free kick after Eric Kambale was fouled but Disan Galiwango delivered it straight to Villa goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa.

Former Red Eagle Joseph Semujju who was the most threatening player in the Villa attack got another chance to put his side in the lead but his effort went well wide.

Badru Nsubuga starting his first game for Express under Coach George Ssimwogerere got a chance but his shot went wide.

Ambrose Kirya got a chance for Villa after being put through by their midfield but his shot went wide after being put under pressure by Express midfielder Pius Mbidde tracking back.

The Ref added 1 minute and blew the final whistle with both teams still looking for the opening goal.

The Red Eagles started the second half brightly and Eric Kambale had his first shot on goal. He controlled a long ball from midfield before twisting and turning but his shot went wide.

Badru Nsubuga was the first player to be booked after a tactical foul on Villa’s midfielder and took one for the team.

Another chance fell to Michael Birungi who beat the keeper but his shot was weak and the ball was cleared off the line.

Express made the first change in the 66th minute Mubaraka Nsubuga replacing Brian Umony, another change came in the 77th minute Frank Zaga Tumwesigye replacing another striker Eric Kambale.

Express broke the deadlock in the 77th minute after a long range shot from the left flank by Disan Galiwango beat Villa goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa to give us the lead.

The lead only lasted for five minutes after Pius Mbidde fouled a Villa attacker and a free kick was awarded.

It was whipped in and former Red Eagle Shafic Bakaki headed it in goal after Kyamera coming off his line but could not get the ball and he was caught out of position.

That was the second goal the Red Eagles have conceded at home under Coach George Ssimwogerere.

Both sides tried to get the second but in vain. The ref added 2 minutes and blew the final whistle with both sides tied at 1-1 and shared the points.

What next for the Red Eagles?

The Red Eagles will take an eight day hiatus and return to action on Saturday 20th April against title contenders KCCA FC at Lugogo on UPL matchday 27.
