Express FC contained league holders Vipers SC in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday evening in the only game played in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the Betway Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku.

Winger Godfrey Lwesibawa opened the scoring in the 57th minute before Karim Watambala leveled matters a minute later.

The first half had nothing to write home about save for Eric Kambale’s shot which was brilliantly saved by Vipers’ custodian Fabien Mutombora in the 26th minute.

After recess, both teams upped up the ante but it was Express who drew first blood through winger Lwesibawa when 25-yard freekick was deflected into the net by old boy Disan Galiwango.

But, the home side seemingly switched off thereafter and failed to defend an ensuing Vipers’ freekick which was converted by left-footed winger Karim Watambala.

Both moments summed up the second period which had very few chances for either side. Head coach Wasswa Bbosa credited the good display.

“I thought it was a good fight, the boys for me ticked all the boxes but our biggest undoing was failure to convert the chances we got, going forward (Vs U.R.A) we shall do our best to win” He stated.

The draw means Express FC remain unbeaten in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League but also keeps the Red Eagles sixth on the 16 team log after five games played. Wasswa Bbosa’s next assignment is away against U.R.A at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje.
