#EXPBRI | FT’ 3-1 | 5 Things We Noticed
3-1 win for a very much changed Express team against a more physical and experienced Bright Stars side at Wankulukuku on Wednesday.
Here are the five things we noticed.
Coach Sim unbeaten in the league at home.
Coach George Ssimwogerere was appointed in February and took charge of six home games. He managed to win 3 (Paidha, Kirinya Jinja SSS and Bright Stars) and draw 3 (Maroons, Villa and Mbarara City). This is a good statistic we can build upon starting next season.
First starts for Ssekyembe, Ocholit and Batega.
The coach named a very changed XI giving starting slots to three players he had not given a starting place since he joined the club. All in their first season at the club they put in a good performance though Batega was unlucky and the ball ricocheted off him to give Bright Stars a consolation goal.
Sadiq Ssekyembe
The young left back joined Express in January from Katwe United. He started his first game for Express and in the league on Wednesday and put in a man of the match performance. He assisted three goal scored by Express on the evening from a cross, a corner and a free kick. With Arthur Kiggundu out injured and Disan Galiwango moved up front Sadiq may be in contention for more opportunities.
Ocholit off the mark.
The hard working forward scored his first competitive Express goal on Wednesday. Sadiq Ssekyembe delivered a nice corner and Ocholit headed it in goal to give us a two-goal cushion. At halftime however he was replaced by Billy Nkata due to a slight knock but he had already left his mark on the game and we hope he can only get better.
Big win in our last home game.
The game against Bright Stars was our last home game and ended in a perfect way. The generally young side pulled off a very energetic performance and defeated a more physical and experienced Bright Stars side.
The final game at home will be still against Bright Stars on Thursday 9th in the Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinal second leg after their last game against Onduparaka in Arua on Saturday 4th.
