Club legend Hassan Mubiru can’t wait to mentor strikers ahead of new season

Hassan “Figo” Mubiru is without a doubt a darling to the red eagles faithfuls, revered as one of the finest strikers to ever wear the red jersey, it doesn’t get any better for the current players especially forwards who will be at the club next season.

The 41 year old who is now part of Wasswa Bossa’s technical team is itching for the season to start so he can mentor the players especially the strikers ahead of the new season when the government gives the all clear for sports to return.

“It’s soo unfortunate Covid-19 has interfered with our plans but not to worry, I can’t wait to mentor the squad especially the forwards when the time is right” Mubiru told the club website before adding,

“We need as many goals next season and I believe we have the right players to do the job” the soft spoken interview shy legend stressed.

“Owe’mamba” joined the Red Eagles around the year 2000 where he went on to guide the club to three Uganda cup titles (2001, 2003 and 2006) but he’s mostly remembered for winning the league’s golden boot for three straight seasons (2001, 2002 and 2003) with Express FC averaging 20 goals each season.

Mubiru also won two CECAFA senior challenge cup titles with the Uganda Cranes.
