Captaincy Role Is A Huge Milestone – Abel Etrude.

He might have been captain before especially during his junior age playing days but this time around it’s a different feeling.

Now Express FC assistant captain, midfielder Abel Etrude says it’s a special feeling to receive that honour especially at this point of his career and that he is up to the task.

“I am honoured to be selected as assistant captain at a club like Express FC, from when i joined the club the players, technical team and management have done exceptionally well on and off the pitch, the team’s performance last season says it all so for me be named vice captain is a special milestone in my career. I can only get better and be exemplary especially to the younger players”.

The defensive midfielder who sat out almost the entire second round due to a nagging knee injury although he’s back up and running says the lost time is motivation to do better when on the pitch.

“The knee injury was tough on me, it took more time to heal than I anticipated but as players we owe it to ourselves to be always be positive and i am thankful to our medical team which has worked tirelessly to get me and others back to our fitness.”

Etrude was named assistant captain on the eve of the team traveling to Dar-es-Saalam Tanzania for the CECAFA Kagame Cup. The Red Eagles are pooled in Group A alongside Nyasa Bullets FC from Malawi, Atlabara FC from South Sudan and Yanga Africans from Tanzania.

Wasswa Bbosa’s charges kickstart their campaign on Monday 2nd August against Atlabara FC at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium before returning to action on Wednesday against Nyasa Bullets FC. The final group game is against Yanga Africans on Saturday.
