Abel Etrude Making The Most Of The Injury Layoff.
Express FC holding midfielder Abel Michael Etrude is one of few players that have been waking up to a different training programme as opposed to preparing for a matchday like the rest of the fit players.

A nagging knee injury picked up in a practice match during the first round break has seen Etrude miss nine games across all competitions but the pencil-thin anchorman says it’s a blessing in disguise because he’s used the time to reflect on alot.

“I can’t sit here and tell you it’s been easy on me since I got injured, it’s so tough, I’d gotten into the groove, fitted in the team’s style of play so to sit out this long is so unfortunate for me it’s a blessing in disguise, I’ve used this time to reflect on my individual performance, I’ve also watched the boys and reviewed the performance without any conflict of interest and it has helped me alot”.

The 24-year-old also added that such situations help build the mental strength of any player and they on most occasions bounce back better.
“I have always maintained that for any player to make it, you’ve got to have the mental strength and such situations help bring out the best of you, I am certain I’ll bounce back stronger”.

Etrude is currently under strict monitoring by the club’s medical team and although his return date hasn’t been penciled down, his surely not far from a come back. In his absence, head coach Wasswa Bossa has relied on Yaya Mahad Kakooza and Daniel Shabene who have put in a shift in several games.

The Red Eagles next face Police FC on Saturday at the Betway Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku.
